Knowing what truth really means

Truth: This can be simply defined as an act of possessing a virtue of being  loyal,faithful,genuine  and sincere. 

psalm 15 vs (1-5)

15 Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle?

Who may dwell in Your holy hill?

2 He who walks uprightly,

    And works righteousness,

    And speaks the truth in his heart;

3 He who does not backbite with his tongue,

    Nor does evil to his neighbor,

    Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend;

4 In whose eyes a vile person is despised,

    But he honors those who fear the Lord;

He who swears to his own hurt and does not change;

5 He who does not put out his money at usury,

    Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent.

He who does these things shall never be moved.

Being truthful is a nature of GOD 

Deuteronomy 32 vs 4

(4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect;

For all His ways are justice,

A God of truth and without injustice;

Righteous and upright is He.)

 

It takes a truthful heart to have a fellowship with God  and also to maintain a fellowship with GOD(John 4 vs 24

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in SPIRIT and truth.)  ,because our GOD is a GOD of truth  and he delight not in hypocrisy (psalm 51vs 6 " Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts,

And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.")

I would like to us approach truth from 2 perspective  

1.Being truthful in relation to man 

2.Being truthful is our relation to GOD 

Being truthful in relation to man 

lie is the opposite of truth,  but this is  one of the most common sin we often comit as a man ,this sin is  so rampant  in the life of many  as a result  of the Adamic  nature (fleshy nature) that has already dominated the life of ma, that is why we see in our society today  a very young  child  telling lie without being thought,  this nature is  governed by the flesh ( the devil)

telling lie is one of the easiest sin for man to commit, most of the time,  denying the cause of telling the truth is as a result of  fear,  depression, forced will  , and  sin conciousness .

But as the cause of relating with men , JESUS  CHRIST want us to  be truthful.

Matthew  5 vs 37"

But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one."

GOD is willing to help us live a truthful life  but  we have to pay our part,  the major role we need to  play  at the cause of living a truthful life is to make a strong decision and determination to stand for the truth,  and nothing less but the truth  no matter what  comes our way,  no matter what  people may  say.  at times  telling the truth might not be in our favor  but  we just have to  standout for the truth  no matter what.  

Being truthful is our relation to GOD :

this is another perspective I would like us to look into,  According John 4 vs 24 

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in SPIRIT and truth, 

we see today in our society  a lot of GOD seeker  despite  all  church or religious activities  yet don't know who GOD truly is , because they fail to seek GOD in truth  .if our motives of serving God  or seeking GOD  is not from a true and sincere heart  ,then  we are just wasting our time  practicing religion.

one of the true way In which we can seek GOD    and be found by GOD is when we  seek GOD because we love him . A heart of truth is the one established in the love of CHRIST. 

We don't need to tell the truth just to impress  men  or  to have Glory before men but we need to stand out for the truth because of our love  for GOD,  because we are sons of GOD  , because we  have the life of God in us , and because it is CHRIST who lives in us , remember JESUS CHRIST  is the truth,  the way and the life 

Matthew 26 vs 31

(36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” 37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. 38 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”

39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”

40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

42 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.” 43 And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.

44 So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. 45 Then He came to His disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.”

Standing out for the truth is not usually an easy task ,  because there are alot of circumstances that might prompt a believer to compromise  just like Peter  did in the Bible  when he denied JESUS CHRIST  but   when we turn to GOD  in prayers ,leaning and depending on the HOLY SPIRIT  to help us build capacity  that will make us stand for the  truth when those days of  trial comes. 

and also ,as many of us  who have stepped of the truth  just like  Peter  the moment he lied and  denied JESUS  CHRIST  . GOD is still giving us a chance today  ,to turn to him  today through JESUS CHRIST in prayers and consistent study of the word of  GOD  and also ,we should ask for HOLY  SPIRIT, mercy of GOD and the grace needed to stand for the truth.
